A very well preserved Model 1895 Pickelhaube (spiked helmet), constructed of a boiled and blackened leather shell. The crown is topped by a circular gilded brass disc, fixed in position with four domed rivets, culminating in a spike of identical construction. A rear spine of similar metal construction extends from the back of the disc and meets a protruding
