Wrapped around the exterior is a general issue tally ribbon constructed of black rayon and bearing a machine embroidered gold bullion wire inscription of KRIEGSMARINE in Fraktur script. Affixed to the crown is a separate cover, constructed of a white rayon blended cloth. Pined onto the peak is a one piece
