This tartan was originally supplied by William Wilson and Sons of Bannockburn to a Mr Kidd who used it to clothe the slaves on his West Indian plantation

Some of the clan living in the Ballachulish area took protection from the Stewart of Appin

GALBRAITH (ANCIENT) - Tartans beginning with 'K' Note: This tartan is currentlyTartan also shared with Hunter, Mitchell and Russell. It appears in the Highland Society of London collection as Galbraith, in a mid 19th century list as Russell. Also marketed in 20th century as Hunter, and ca. 1950 acquired the name Mitchell when adopted by the U. S. Air Force Pipe Band and renamed in honour of General Billy Mitchell. It is the same as Ferguson of Balquhidder with the green stripe on blue changed to white.
