A Commemorative Medal for the Warwick Castle Fire, 1871 Archive worn on a period triangularIn silver, a beautiful carved medal featuring an elephant on shield with a lion atop, encircled by a wreath, reverse demonstrating Warwick Castle against the trees in delicate relief, unnamed, on a scroll suspension, measures 38. 2 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), weighs 29. 96 grams, minor contact marks to edges, lovely patina, near extremely fine. Footnote: In December 1871, a major fire broke out at Warwick Castle in Warwickshire, England, causing extensive
